Marsh Harrier on the Levels 31/10

A visit to Shapwick today and also a change in the weather. Sunny skies but with a cold nagging wind! The Scrape is well flooded with only a handful of ducks at present but I am sure more will arrive.  The Hawthorn berries along the path were busy with Blackbirds and just one Redwing
We spent quite some time sitting in Noah's hide (unusual for us!) where we had a great view of a Marsh Harrier. Hundreds of Wigeon here now as well as some Gadwall, Teal and good numbers of Coots. A Kingfisher also whizzed past a number of times. 4 Black tailed Godwits flew onto the lake hoping to land. Alas they had to move on as no land available!
There seems to be quite a few Stonechats on the levels at the moment, I guess they will be overwintering, always a lovely colourful addition to see though.
All in all a strange quiet day for birding but great to be out and about with nature. Just one of those days.
