Barrington Hill Somerset, Green- winged Orchid paradise 10th April

We haven't been to Barrington for a couple of years to see the fields of Orchids so spirits were high in anticipation of what we might see.  Nestled in a beautiful bit of Somerset countryside the fields certainly did not disappoint. Hundreds of Orchids in all shades from deep purple, pink and even a single white. Not forgetting the splash of yellow from the Cowslips here and there. Truly a wonderfull jaw dropping sight.
Due to the cool breeze only a few butterflies seen a Speckled Wood and Orange Tip. We also had a great view of a couple of Red Legged Partridge trotting down the road.
So many more Orchids yet to bloom in the fields, we are very tempted to revisit to see them at their best, watch this space!
